We think
the Mayan Seas Honeymoon is a very special one, offering couples the
opportunity to combine sacred Mayan sites in the jungles of Belize and
eastern Guatemala with the sensual and languid Caribbean Sea.
Accommodations include Francis Ford Coppola's Blancaneaux Lodge,
possibly the most beautiful and unique jungle resort you may ever
encounter, La Lancha, Coppola's newest jungle lodge on the shores of
Lake Peten Itza in the Peten Region of Guatemala, and finally, Turtle
Inn, an incredibly beautiful seaside resort designed and built by Mr.
Coppola on the Caribbean shores of Placencia in southern Belize.
Activities
focus on rejuvenation of the body and the mind, including traditional
Thai massage at Blancaneux' very special Waterfall Spa and Hot Pool,
the mysterious Mayan ruins of Caracol and Tikal, and the seductive
beauty of the Caribbean -- both above and below the surface.
Optional
activities include swimming beneath jungle waterfalls, fishing
(saltwater flyfishing or light tackle), scuba diving jungle horseback
riding, canoeing, birding and kayaking.
With a few
exceptions noted below, all meals are included, which is a good thing
because the Coppola kitchens are among the best in Belize and
Guatemala, featuring organic produce (often grown on-site), freshly
caught fish and seafoods, an extensive collection of Niebaum-Coppola
wines, and chefs who produce wonderful fusions of Tuscany and the
tropics.
