Pook's Hill Jungle Lodge, a unique Belize jungle lodgePook's Hill is an amazing place.  Deep in the jungle at the end of a long (and sometimes bumpy) ride, lies a very different sort of jungle lodge.

Like birds? Pooks Hill is one of the best places in Belize for bird watching.  (I looked up from my scrambled eggs and was almost face to face with a toucan recently.)

Caving?  Actun Tunichil Muknal is within walking distance - some guests have described this caving tour as a mystical experience.  Cave tubing is also easily accessible at Cave's Branch.

Horseback riding?  Pook's Hill has its own stables.  Art?  Vicki and Ray Snadden, the owners, are both trained artists, and display an unique collection of Belizean art in the cottages and lodge.

Ruins under Excavation at Pook's Hill, Belize jungle lodgeRuins?  At the heart of Pook's Hill are the ruins of a small Terminal Classic Period Mayan residential complex under excavation by the Belize Department of Archeology.  Xunantunich, Cahal Pech, Caracol and Tikal are also close enough for day trips.

Kayaking, jungle hiking and natural history excursions are also readily available.

Lodging is in well-proportioned thatched cabanas either near the site of Pook's Hill ruins, or the new Birdwalk Cabanas, built high into the jungle canopy, with one wall of windows and a spacious terrace.
